GHOSTS IN EVERY POCKET

“theyre multiplying”
The first ghost arrived beside gingerlmao’s roof, small enough to pick up and apparently willing to begin a population boom. Friday’s lantern-lit search had ended empty-handed; by Saturday afternoon, the answer had wandered into the neighborhood on its own.
gingerlmao offered the first find to simplyknj, who had been hunting for one the night before. meilala hurried over, glow berries came out, and the gathering turned into a cheerful field study. Ghosts perched on heads, vanished when set down, reappeared in corners, and made noises that briefly stopped all useful work. Then meilala and gingerlmao each tamed one. One tiny recruit could be handed torches and sent toward dark patches; another plant-bearing creature required crystal shards. “This is the best thing ever actually,” simplyknj declared, which was a defensible scientific conclusion.
The search had become a neighborhood adoption drive. Nobody found the creatures in the swamp as planned. Homestead simply woke to discover that the ghosts had found everybody else.
THE FLYING PICTURE DESK
Later, meilala made a camera and began documenting anything willing—or dangerous enough—to stand still. shaxter_323 supplied an airplane, paper for captions, and a flight thousands of blocks toward a promised beautiful spot. The plane sank on arrival. A seaplane was fetched. The photographs continued.
By the end, meilalala had enough pictures to consider a room of their own, while the spawn gallery was reportedly nearly full. It was a fine day for proving that Homestead’s memories may require additional wall space.
Questions for the Developing Room
- Which ghost settles into the tower? Which photograph earns the gallery wall? Does the new picture room begin with a selfie or a Warden?
- Bring the desk one photograph that deserves to outlive the adventure.
