The Grass-Block Curriculum

“Haha everyday's a schoolday”

The workshop bell rang on a very practical Homestead lesson: if the world is full of grass, getting one neat little grass block into the correct machine can still become a whole afternoon's education.

WildMitchell began with grass slabs and the kind of Create problem that looks rude on purpose. Havensurge answered like the village's calm shop teacher: silk touch was available, mending was involved, the blaze burner could be handled, and no, the tool was not being wasted. By midafternoon the first "grass maker" was alive, water spout and all. WildMitchell saw the moving parts, spotted sprinkler potential immediately, and learned the depot trick from Havensurge with a cheerful "ohhhh it's that simple!" That is a proper school day: one machine, one helper, one future vineyard looking a little greener.

The evening class met on the road. xsengar took the traditional new-neighbor curriculum of zombies, skeletons, creepers, no food, and then potatoes from Omayor. A little later came /sethome, /home, string for a backpack, and the relief of learning that being three thousand blocks away is less fatal when someone knows the commands.

Overnight, Rohawnn arrived exactly as advertised: tired of playing Homestead alone, ready to try it with people. The first night made them work for it, with exits and returns, but they still found stone, iron, gemstones, diamonds, lava, obsidian, tea blossoms, grapes, and a village sign. Meanwhile kaestar and LegoBoy1024 treated the Nether like a wet-sounding field trip: piglin loot, ancient debris, a ruby geode lead, a vanishing glowstone mystery solved by magnet, and several reminders that "it's safe" is a brave sentence.

Tomorrow's Lesson Plan

  • Will WildMitchell turn the grass maker into sprinklers? Can xsengar get that backpack packed and a home named properly? Does Rohawnn get a smoother first evening with neighbors? Are kaestar's mushlings really happy with the chickens?
  • Send the paper a lesson learned, a machine you're proud of, or the neighbor who made the hard bit simple.
