By evening, MasonShmason had turned one Prominence iron ingot into an epic pick, found diamonds, and wandered underground far enough to lose the way home. Before the cave managed that trick, Enrimo had supplied a backpack, a gift that made falls harmless, and the kind of sendoff usually reserved for someone stepping onto a ship.
When MasonShmason admitted the claim was somewhere above but no home had been set, Enrimo offered the practical frontier method: find the claim on the map and mine upward. MasonShmason eventually surfaced, reported exactly one sheep in the neighborhood, and immediately met a skeleton capable of “a hail of arrows.” It was a first night with excellent equipment and increasingly specific problems.
Then MasonShmason crossed into Homestead, asked whether the trains were running, and found diamonds again before the question had much time to cool. Enrimo, meanwhile, finished the evening with an Elytra. The welcome had worked: adventures and mischief were already underway.
THE HOMESTEAD DESK — ONE LAST HELLO.
Near midnight, BigBotoz67 stepped onto Homestead and Omayor came in long enough to wave, welcome the new arrival, and wish everyone luck before sleep won. BigBotoz67 killed a first hostile mob, pocketed a seashell and a wildflower, made a bed, and followed a sign toward a village. Some towns hang bunting; Bindspire sends a sleepy neighbor.
