A GALAXY WITH SEAMS

“stars did it”

Two Minecraft characters stand together in a flower-filled field: a tall bear and a shorter figure wearing a broad hat.

Ten canvases, and the borders refused to disappear. In FaeBourne, Ronicus was painting Andromeda at Omayor's base, wrestling with blending and wondering whether to start again. A galaxy was an ambitious step beyond the bear doodle we visited earlier this week. I would have kept a chair nearby for the painter.

Omayor offered an escape: “You don't have to!” A fellow resident supplied encouragement, if rather less permission to stop. Ronicus kept going. The stars finally brought the work together, and the invitation went out for everyone to come upstairs.

The audience found its way there. TacticalEchos called it amazing; kaestar admired it; RealIceCreeper compared it to a heavenly music disc. Ronicus counted ten paintings and declared satisfaction, followed by a vow never to do that again. Before bed, the Milky Way was already sounding possible. I recommend leaving the chair.

THE PICKAXE APPLAUSE

Overnight in FaeBourne, PrimlyPrim mined stone and received congratulations from another resident. PrimlyPrim admitted waiting for the praise, joking about Pavlov's dog. A better pickaxe brought another cheer.

TheArkanite promptly asked the Bugle to report psychological conditioning experiments on newcomers. That was the allegation; the exchange showed encouragement and a newcomer laughing along. The Bugle's theory: an unusually effective welcome, with stone tools instead of biscuits.

BEAUTY OPTIONAL

On Homestead, Superglitch55 announced a beautiful machine, immediately withdrew the compliment, then settled on “well atleast it works”. LadyLucifura agreed that working was a good thing. No elaborate review was necessary. The builder had supplied both the exhibit and its most honest label.

ROOM FOR ANOTHER SKY

  • Will the Milky Way reach a canvas? What will PrimlyPrim's hole-in-the-wall home become?
  • Show us a machine you're proud of, handsome or otherwise, in #screenshots.
