ROOM FOR ONE MORE FACE

“does it look like a villager?”

Players pose among stacks of carved pumpkins beside a giant jack-o’-lantern, with a red building and flower beds behind them.

A giant jack-o’-lantern grinned above stacks of smaller carved faces, with residents perched among them. TheArkanite’s photograph caught Homestead’s pumpkin gathering looking rather like a family portrait in which the vegetables had invited everyone else.

Earlier, Meggy73 had reassured a neighbour stuck at work that the pumpkins would still be there later. By evening, CreatorBot01 arrived asking whether they had missed the occasion. Boofreon pointed out the pumpkins, then directed them towards the rest of the display.

The villager resemblance passed inspection. Boofreon called the carving over to join its neighbours and supplied an enthusiastic “nice!!!” before CreatorBot01 hurried away again. A short visit had left a face behind.

Even the older pumpkins acquired a story. TheArkanite challenged Omayor about one at the Ad Astra spot. Omayor denied making the carving, then remembered placing it there before FaeBourne opened. The sculptor remained unidentified; the delivery service had identified itself. I would have given that pumpkin a second label for its unusually well-documented travels.

THE WALLS REMEMBERED

Before joining the pumpkin excitement, RealIceCreeper rediscovered Homestead piece by piece: the spawn walls they remembered working on, their home, their stone farm—and a dog now described as an elder.

There were surprises among the familiar blocks. The second island was a train station now. Later, they carried that discovery into FaeBourne chat, still marvelling that this was the same Homestead they had played on. Coming back meant finding both the things that had waited and the things neighbours had changed.

ANOTHER FACE, ANOTHER VISIT

  • What face belongs on the next pumpkin? Which Homestead landmark should a returning neighbour visit first?
  • Put your pumpkin portrait in #screenshots so the neighbours who missed carving can have a look.
